Save our Bank Branches

The Royal Bank of Scotland have taken the decision to close their branches in Bonnyrigg on 24th May 2018 and Penicuik on 28th June 2018.

I think that this decision is deeply unfair and will harm our communities, high streets and livelihoods of staff employed at these branches.

The UK Government is a majority shareholder in RBS and I have written directly to the Government with my objections. I have also written to Ross McEwan, Chief Executive of The Royal Bank of Scotland urging him to stop the closure of our branches. I urge you to sign the email petition, let’s keep banking local!

Save our Bank Branches

Dear Ross McEwan

I write to note my strong objections to the planned closure of RBS branches in Midlothian.

Not only will these plans have a devastating impact on the bank workers who are set to lose their jobs, but these closures will also have a negative effect on the local communities of Bonnyrigg and Penicuik.

Those who are older, in poor health, who cannot afford to travel further afield to do their banking, or who run small businesses will be hit hardest by these branch closures.

I urge you to change your decision to close both the Bonnyrigg branch on 24th May 2018 and Penicuik branch on 28th June 2018.

I look forward to your reply in due course.

Best Wishes,
